Pentacles
Pentacles correspond to the element of earth: material life, work, money, the body, and everything built to last. They answer the question of what is actually the case, whether a thing can land, and whether it is worth the investment — career, finances, health, and any goal that only accumulates with time. Earth is the slowest element, and the only one that leaves something behind.
The Pentacles curve is the slowest and the most solid of the four. A coin offered out from a cloud (the Ace) is an opportunity; Two through Four move from balance and cooperation to guarding what is held and growing cautious; Five through Seven teach patience between hardship, giving, and waiting; Eight through Ten are the refinement of a craft, settled abundance, and family inheritance. Among the court cards, the Page studies the coin in hand, the Knight halts to inspect before moving, the Queen holds both resources and care in her palms, and the King is the one who has achieved all of it — four steps of earth, from learning to owning.
