Tarot Basics
Before you open your first deck, get clear on what tarot is, what a deck contains, and how it actually “works”. This chapter is the foundation of the whole tutorial — and it teaches your first move: reading a card from its picture alone.
What Tarot Is · The Structure of a Deck: Major and Minor Arcana · How Tarot Works: A Tool for Intuition and Self-Reflection · The Standard This Site Uses: the RWS Tradition
Chapter 2Getting Ready
You need no ritual-laden mystical props, nor a trained memory for recitation. This chapter covers only three things: choosing a deck that suits you, spending seven days getting familiar with it, and how to treat it day to day.
Choosing Your First Deck · Getting to Know the 78 Cards: Look First, Memorize Later · Caring for and Storing Your Deck
Chapter 3Your First Reading: the Core Process
From the question to the interpretation, a tarot reading consists of five fixed stages. This chapter takes them apart one by one, then walks the full distance with one complete three-card reading — finish it and you can independently conduct the first reading of your life.
The Art of Asking: Getting the Question Right · Shuffling, Cutting, and Drawing · Spreads and Positions: Where a Card Sits Changes What It Says · Upright and Reversed · A Full Walk-Through: one Three-Card Reading · Clarifiers and Added Cards: When You May Draw One More
Chapter 4Reading the Cards
Drawing the cards only gathers the raw material; interpretation is the reading itself. This chapter gives a reusable three-layer framework, then completes the underlying grammar of reading from four dimensions — elements, numbers, court cards, and the Major Arcana. Finish this chapter and you can read a card you have never memorized.
The Three-Layer Method: Keyword → Position → Narrative · The Four Elements and Four Suits · The Journey of Numbers: from 1 to 10 · Court Cards: Four Kinds of People · The Major Arcana and the Fool's Journey
Chapter 5The Seven Spreads in Detail
A spread is the skeleton of a reading. This chapter explains the seven spreads this site provides, one by one: suitable scenarios, positional meanings, interpretation steps, and a mini case for each — all fully practicable on the site.
The Single Daily Card: the Simplest Beginning · The Yes/No Spread: Conclusion First, Explanation After · The Three-Card Spread: a Timeline Narrative · The Holy Triangle: Body, Mind, Spirit · The Two-Choice Spread: Comparing Two Paths · The Celtic Cross: a Full Map in Ten Cards · The Four Seasons Spread: Setting the Tone for a Quarter
Chapter 6Advanced Methods
Once the basic process runs through, this chapter covers four things that lift interpretive precision another notch: the dialogue between cards, the correct use of the card library, the deep-reading terms, and the pits beginners most often step into.
Elemental Dignities: the Dialogue Between Neighbors · Using the Card Library Well: Upright/Reversed and Four Dimensions · Shadow, Archetype, and Karmic Lessons · Common Beginner Mistakes
Chapter 7Practice and Growth
Tarot is a craft, and a craft is built by practice. This chapter offers a sustainable set of daily exercises: one card a day, a reading journal, and one complete worked reading to check yourself against — from here, you graduate from the tutorial and set out on your own.
The Daily-Card Practice · The Reading Journal: Record, Review, Verify · Worked Reading: a Three-Card Spread in Practice
Chapter 8Ethics and Mindset
Beyond technique, tarot practice has a bottom line that must be set before technique at all. This chapter takes up three things: never deciding for people, the boundaries around sensitive topics, and how to place your expectations of “prediction” — one of the three most important chapters in this whole tutorial.
Tarot Ethics: Never Decide for Someone · Boundaries Around Sensitive Topics · Mindset: Self-Exploration, Not Verdict of Fate
Chapter 9Scenarios in Practice
The first eight chapters teach a general method; this one lands it in the three most common reasons people come to the cards — love, career, and money — with a final section laid out side by side: one card read three different ways in three different contexts. This chapter introduces no new tools. It only runs chapter 4's three-layer method once per scenario: what changes is the position semantics and the way the question is phrased; what does not change is “present the situation and how you are handling it, do not hand down a verdict”.
Love: First Tell Whether You Are Asking About the Relationship or About Yourself · Career: Choice, Timing, and People — Three Kinds of Question · Money: The Questions the Cards Fudge Most Easily · One Card, Three Readings: How Love, Career, and Money Diverge
